Young Ashley dropped this during Black History Month, but lyrics and Knowledge of Self should be celebrated every day of the year.  I’m looking forward to doing some more work with Ashley in the very near future. Keep your ears open and your eyes wide…. Peep the official blurb on the video below:

A young Toronto female MC uses a musical platform to spread knowledge about her culture, identity & roots. In this video she captures many African influential icons who paved the way in History. While staying true to artistry, Ashley Jenelle is known for her raw delivery yet thought-provoking truth in her rhymes.

Toronto’s Frankie Payne is back with a new video and a new EP, entitled Children of the Speaker. Revolutionary, thought-provoking, lyrical and always on point, the EP is definitely worth checking out, which features previously unreleased work. Need more good news? Word is that Freedom Writers are back in the lab.

Shouts out to my girl ADRIA KAIN. Whether she’s on stage with a full band keeping people totally captivated (did you catch her set opening for RAPSODY earlier this year?!), or behind the boards and mic making the magic happen, I’m always loving what she releases.  Get familiar!

Infinite releases a new video – this one is for the ladies. Check out “Let’s Be Friends”.

Early morning shout out to J Wyze for delivering some audio goodness in the form of good music.  Take a listen and enjoy — peace to Crown-A-Thornz fam….

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve RINSED this chune on DD Radio since it came out a few months ago. Loving that these ladies represent with the visuals AND lyrics.

Check out A. Harmony, pHoenix Paggliacci and Kzaraw on Soul Runner (shouts out to Mega on the beat), which can easily be summed up in one word:

Some grimy, raw dog hip hop from the T-DOT – shouts out to Fortunato of ANGERVILLE with production from the one and only FRESH KILS who was in the DD Radio studio this week. Dopeness all around – check it:

Shouts out to Freedom Writers team – new one from Frankie Payne (produced by Big Sproxx). The video for Children of the Ghetto features some of your all-time favourite movie scenes of real life.

Mr. Payne’s new album, CLARITY, is coming out soon – stay tuned for the details and enjoy the video in the meantime.

There’s nothing better than catching up on some music, and this is one I definitely need to share.  It’s no secret that JD Era is one of my favourite MCs and I’m amped that the rest of the world is starting to recognize that too! He was nominated for a JUNO this year, and although he didn’t take home the hardware, I think the fresh suit he wore to the awards received more press than the actual winner – proof that there’s nothing like a sharp dressed man!

Peep this freestyle and jump on the ERA train now:

New video from one of my favourite Toronto artists – Rock Da House. Peep the crazy visuals for the single, Swimming In the Money, and get ready for the weekend. Think you can party like Rock Da House? Follow him on Twitter @RockDaHouse and see!!
