Still Standing Album Artwork

A new album from ‘Sauga’s finest, J Shiltz! Every track is pretty dope so it’s pretty hard to choose a favourite after just one listen, so I guess I’ll have to just run it again, and again, and again!  Still Standing features production by Lancescape, Rich Kidd, Junia-T, Kev Brown, Relic and more. Vocal collaborations feature Ray Robinson, pHoenix Pagliacci, Rapper Big Pooh and more.

I’m really looking forward to interviewing J Shiltz on DD Radio next Tuesday –  make sure you lock it in!!

I usually use this blog to talk about other artists and DJs but this time its all about me! I’m definitely looking forward to being a part of the launch of a new night at BASSLINE in Toronto called COCAINE 80s.

Alongside Sanga Genesis, I’m going to be digging DEEP in the crates for some classic 80s music – not just hip hop must-haves, but you know I love my rock classics too, so we’ll definitely be throwing that in the mix. Peep the details below, and be sure to come through tonight!! Shouts to Crossword MC for the invitation to jump on the decks and flatten the place – which I will do!! x SATISFACTION present:

The opening of a brand new series of parties at BASSLINE – 865 Bloor St. W @ Ossington.

Step into a realm of dirty beats and hard-hitting heat. Everything that screams of the back alleys and abandoned corners that made the COCAINE EIGHTIES, captured in music.

Saturday, May 4th, 2013.
$5 before midnight, $10 after.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve RINSED this chune on DD Radio since it came out a few months ago. Loving that these ladies represent with the visuals AND lyrics.

Check out A. Harmony, pHoenix Paggliacci and Kzaraw on Soul Runner (shouts out to Mega on the beat), which can easily be summed up in one word:

Some grimy, raw dog hip hop from the T-DOT – shouts out to Fortunato of ANGERVILLE with production from the one and only FRESH KILS who was in the DD Radio studio this week. Dopeness all around – check it:

Shouts out to Freedom Writers team – new one from Frankie Payne (produced by Big Sproxx). The video for Children of the Ghetto features some of your all-time favourite movie scenes of real life.

Mr. Payne’s new album, CLARITY, is coming out soon – stay tuned for the details and enjoy the video in the meantime.

I’m pretty excited to hear more and more from Toronto’s J Shiltz (shouts out to ‘Sauga!). I’ve heard him grow as an artist over the past few years and I’m really impressed and amped to hear what he’s going to deliver this summer – especially via his upcoming album, Still Standing, being released on May 9th and will be available for free download via  He’s going to be on the DD Radio airwaves sometime over the next few weeks, so I’ll be sure to get the full scoop on all the work that went into building that album – I’ll keep you posted!

In the meantime, check out this new video from J Shiltz – From The Soul featuring Junia-T (of Smash Brovaz), and produced by Relic. Directed by Evan Ciniello:
