Shouts out to P. Reign and the other artists who are able to put paper to pen and share their feelings about what’s going on in Toronto right now.  I’m still muddling my way though my own thoughts, but thank you…. dedicated to Shyanne Charles and Joshua Yasay, who lost their lives in Scarborough (Toronto) on Monday night.

With all the negative activity and senseless violence going on in Toronto right now, it’s somewhat comforting when artists step up and use their craft to share a positive perspective.  Take a listen to some new Mic Boogie ft General and D.O. “Another Cold Case”, produced by Northern Profit. Check out the message below from Mic Boogie:

“With the recent rash of gun violence in city of Toronto, I wanted to share with you a song we all put together recently. Please listen closely to the lyrics and share with everyone in your network. It’s time to make a change with our music and not just talk about the same old bottle poppin, booty shakin and all around negative energy. ”

Yeah, I’m a little late on this, but I can’t call myself Canada’s Ambassador without writing about artists who rep other parts of the country.  Shouts out to my homie Spesh K from Scotia (now in the T-dot).  I love the fact that most of the East Coast MCs I know aren’t afraid to embrace humour in hip hop, and when they perform live, they know how to engage with crowd and take interactivity to the next level.  That’s part of what made me fall in love with the music in the first place – way before everyone became too hardcore to dance and enjoy the music. Anyway, Spesh delivers some dope lyrics over some catchy, feel-good production. Cheers to Team Dimples and my East Coast MCs!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Brotha J this past week in the DD Radio studio but it was right before our interview with SepTO, so it was mad brief!  Hoping to get to build with him on a proper level soon.  Peep this track – if you love Dilla, D’Angelo, The Ummah or anything good in life, do yourself a favour and check this out. This one came out a few days ago, so sorry for the late post, but it was definitely worth the wait.
